As our new Technical Support Manager, you’ll act as a senior member of the technical service team providing support and advice on both new and established products, technologies and processes to the global Composite business and their customers. You’ll define and lead a portfolio of strategic customer support projects, certification/approval programs and technical support activity in support of the global Composite business. You will lead and manage a portfolio of technical support projects/programs to fully support the Global Composites business through managing laboratory work, supporting the commercial teams, communicating directly with customers, external partners and distributors, undertaking visits to customer premises and representing the company technically at symposia & conferences. You’ll be recognised as our technical expert for Composite applications in key market sectors whilst managing job requests from Group Companies and applying technical knowledge and experience to answer or support job requests, inquiries or projects. Some of your key responsibilities:

  • You’ll provide detailed technical correspondence and make recommendations to the commercial teams or directly to customers on the specification and best use of materials, production techniques (including dispensing equipment) and, in the event of a complaint, the correct course of action to take.
  • You will co-ordinate and provide, where appropriate, training and demonstrations to the commercial teams, distributors, customers and potential new customers in conjunction with other R&D team members.
  • You’ll initiate and manage composite approval programs on a global basis including negotiating the SOW (statement of work), managing the subsequent test program and submission of the final test report.
  • You will work closely with the Formulated Materials Development Team and Resin development team to provide market and customer insight into key development projects.
  • You’ll work with Product Management to provide final approval for technical input into all Composite data sheets and other literature.
What do I need to be successful in this role?
  • We’d love for you to hold a MSc or PhD in Polymer or Materials Related background.
  • You’ll have strong knowledge of global chemical regulations and the impact on business.
  • You have proven theoretical understanding and practical application of commonly used composite manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • You hold experience of scaling polymer manufacture to pilot and production scales.
  • You’re adept at managing a portfolio of extended customer and third party approval projects and programs.
