ResponsibilitiesReview and analyze patient medicalrecords and assign accurate codes for diagnoses andprocedures.Maintain up-to-date knowledge ofcoding guidelines and reimbursement reportingrequirements.Review coding for accuracy andcompleteness prior to submission to billingsystem.Identify and report any unusual, high,or suspect coding levels.Work closely with thebilling team to ensure all bills are satisfied in a timelymanner.Consult with physicians and otherhealthcare providers to clarify missing or inadequate recordinformation and to determine appropriatecoding.Provide education to providersregarding coding compliance, documentation requirements, andreimbursement issues.Maintain strict patientand physician confidentiality and follows state, federal, andorganizational guidelines for professional ethics.QualificationsCertified ProfessionalCoder-Apprentice (CPC-A) required.Minimum of 5years of experience in Ortho, ENT, or General Surgerycoding.Proficient in AthenaEMR.Knowledge of payer specific requirementsand guidelines.Strong knowledge of medicalterminology, anatomy, and physiology.Excellentcomputer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft OfficeSuite.Exceptional attention to detail, stronganalytical skills, and the ability tomulti-task.Strong communication andinterpersonal skills.Ability to workindependently and in a teamenvironment.Commitment to high professionalethical standards and a diverseworkplace.Ability to adapt to changes in themedical coding field.Experience withICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codingrequired.Ability to maintain a high level ofaccuracy and productivity underpressure.
