LocationIntroductionThe Medical College was established in 1983, as a part of the Aga Khan University's Faculty of Health Sciences in Pakistan, and attaches great emphasis to the professional, personal and intellectual development of faculty and students, so that its graduates become contributory members and leaders of society. Research in AKU's Medical College, Pakistan spans many disciplines but particularly emphasises problems of the developing world, such as investigation of the causes and treatment of childhood diarrhoea, studies of the immunological characteristics of tuberculosis and leprosy, and community-based health systems development.Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Associate (Ethical Review Committee Secretariat) in Research Facilitation Office.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Associate Dean, Research, you will be responsible for:

assisting in scrutinising online ERC (Ethical Review Committee) applications and proposals, ensuring prescribed guidelines are adhered to

assisting in assigning ERC applications to ERCs; calling and organising weekly meetings

assisting in preparing the agenda, compiling/updating comments/ recommendations/conditions and meeting minutes and maintaining a rolling action list

maintaining record and data of all ERC applications, ensuring strict confidentiality of all ERC related matters

liaising and supporting ERC Chairs and respective committees

sending reminders to investigators of ERC approved projects for submitting progress reports and checking for nonconformities

facilitating dissemination, implementing and compliance of research administration standards/policies

assisting in preparing quarterly and annual reports, based on data using MS Excel / SPSS and preparing PowerPoint presentations

assisting and facilitating orientations, training and workshops on ERC application procedures and standards for research administration

performing all other duties assigned by the supervisor.

RequirementsYou should have:

minimum Bachelor's degree, Master's (MA, MSc, MBA) degree will be preferred

at least 2-3 years of administrative experience in the research area, or a reputed academic institution

knowledge of Research Ethics or ERM systems (Infonetica) will be an advantage

knowledge of ERC matters or policies, or good knowledge of research ethics and ethical review process, standards will be an advantage

excellent English reading, writing, and verbal communication abilities

ability to communicate and resolve issues effectively, maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
