Homework Support/Tutor (9-month contract)

The Homework Support/Tutor assists students with their homework and learning needs, contributing to community work. They provide academic support and tutoring, focusing on capacity building. They coordinate tutoring sessions and educational activities. Administrative responsibilities include maintaining student progress records and tutoring plans. They create educational materials and resources through resource development. Additionally, they support student learning and development through networking and advocacy.SAHARA is a non-profit (2019/492707/08) in George that assist people who smoke or use alcohol or drugs harmfully, as well as people with HIV. We provide medical assisted out-patient rehab, counselling, and support groups. All services are free at the clinics of George. We provide training and advocate for alcohol harm reduction. We are a central actor in the Planet Youth alcohol prevention process with the Departments of Education, Health, Social Development, Cultural Affairs & Sport and UCT.RequirementsThe suitable candidate should have: Ability to work independently and develop a strategic vision. Knowledge of basic organizational administration. Interest in youth development. Interest  in education, or related fields. Relevant experience in tutoring, academic support, and student engagement. Matric Certificate Communicates fluently in English and Xhosa or Afrikaans.
