Theresponsibilities include.Business and product alignment and engineering planningWork closely with business and product stakeholders to understand and align with product initiatives and iterations.Help shape the engineering requirement by aligning with the product manager and fleshing out concepts and user flows.Formalize product requirements into roadmaps and sprints.Product and system developmentDrive high level modeling and design for projects, also focusing on non-functional aspects, including but not limited to database design, communication protocols, deployment systems, etc.Drive adoption of design frameworks like domain driven design, clean architecture,etc., resulting in a robust layered architecture.Drive good code review practices, using the review process as a mentoring tool to upskill people.Ensure test coverage of systems, partly through unit and integration testing, and partly through blackbox testing by collaborating with the Quality Assurance team, via good testing practices.Project ManagementDrive the execution of the project by delegating tasks effectively.Resolve blockers through technical expertise, negotiation and delegation.Estimate timelines and ensure adherence to them through effective sync-ups and course corrections.MaintenanceFormulate SLAs and oversee their adherence for the various systems, effectively tracking issues and performance inefficiencies.Performance monitoring and optimization for systems.Drive technical re-design, remodeling and refactoring of systems for robustness and sustainability.Team ManagementTypically manage a team of 8-15 cross-functional team members from a delivery perspective, with 3-6 direct reportees, and a portfolio of 3-6 products.Do periodic assessment of reportees, chart their career growth paths and train them.Recruit members into the team by collaborating effectively with the recruitment team.MiscellaneousTake a managerial and influencer role in the software engineering function, implementing the technical vision and the pursuit of innovations regarding new technologies, platforms and applicationsResearch, designs and writes new software and performs deep dive data analysis, to identify issues and implement ways to improve working processes within the area of software engineering responsibility, such as avoiding and reducing technical debtChampions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in software engineeringPrior experience in established start-ups is a plusTechnical Skills:Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or a related field from a college of reputeExperience leading large-scale distributed systems, working on mobile development projectsAbility to be flexible, proactive, and comfortable working with minimal specificationsExperience with short release cycles, the full software lifecycle, and experience working on a product that's been released for public consumptionExperience in hiring, mentoring, and leading engineersExperience with continuous delivery, deployment, and monitoring of mobile applications.Knowledge of and experience with databases RDBMS - PostGres, MySQL, etc, Linux,Monitoring systems (Datadog / New Relic), Logging, Operations, and SLO/SLAExperience with Agile development methodologies. Scrum Master experience requiredWork closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, architects, and developers, to drive the mobile application development process.Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and product management to understand requirements, describe software product features, and technical designsStrong verbal and written communication skills, organizational and time management skillsShould have worked on large scale SaaS products and can rapidly familiarize himself / herself with complex productsExposure to consumer facing productsA strong inclination for keeping up-to-date with the latest trends and emerging technologies in the field of mobile developmentAs an Engineering Manager, your role is critical in ensuring the successful delivery of software projects, fostering innovation, and developing a high-performing engineering team that aligns with the organization's goals and vision.
