Press Tab to Move to Skip to Content Link Select how often (in days) to receive an alert: The Global Analytical Science team is part of the SABIC Corporate Technology and Innovation (T&I) organization, with three locations in Europe. The European team (~27 FTEs) provides analytical characterization expertise to support T&I programs across Strategic Business Units (SBUs). The Analytical Science Laboratories are well equipped with an extensive array of modern analytical techniques in the area of advanced chromatography, spectroscopy, elemental analysis, morphology / microscopy and thermal analysis. We are looking for a highly skilled analytical professional with a strong expertise in microscopy and a broad knowledge of polymer characterization to join our team. This job is located in Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands. The Role Your role will focus on setting up methods, coordinating, and executing micro-analysis to provide support and enable business continuity for all the business groups (including high performance thermoplastics, polyolefins, industrial chemicals, and other SABIC focus areas), dealing with different dynamics and timeframes in the range of early phase development to production and manufacturing. Microscopy techniques includes optical microscopy and electron microscopy. The Scope Provide technical expertise to internal customers for market, production, or product development support. Develop and execute original methods for the morphology characterization of polyolefin materials, while demonstrating and advocating for solution development. Demonstrate a problem solving mindset. Design and execute experiments in optical and electron microscopy in collaboration with internal customers from different disciplines and with other analytical specialists. Translate the knowledge and cross-train colleagues as required. Maintain contact with instrument vendors in the area of microscopy. Keep track of novel microscopy techniques. Organize and perform feasibility studies and assessments. Advise on and drive purchase of new instrumental techniques. Ensure equipment availability through timely maintenance and troubleshooting. Contribute to team activities in analytical science, participate in cross-functional and global safety, quality improvement and knowledge exchange programs. Your Profile PhD degree in physics, material science or other related fields. University degree (Master) with relevant experience may also be considered Solid laboratory experience (5+ years) with extensive practical and theoretical expertise in electron microscope operation and technique development Demonstrated expertise of polyolefin material analysis via microscopy techniques is highly preferred Preparation of EM specimens and other microscopy techniques, including LM Knowledge of advanced technology, diagnostics and troubleshooting of microscopy equipment Additional requirements Self-starter, comfortable taking initiative and proposing solutions Excellent verbal and written English communication skills Ability to drive your own performance, sense of urgency Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Strong analytical and problem solving skills Flexibility, creativity and independence Ability to work in cross-functional and global teams Ability to organize efficiently, prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
