OverviewMastercard's Cyber & Intelligence organization develops and delivers world-class security products and services for customers across the globe. NuData Security, a Mastercard company, predicts fraudulent transactions by identifying good users from bad, based on their online behaviour. By analyzing over 38 billion behaviours annually, NuData harnesses the power of behavioural and biometric analysis to empower its clients to predict fraud and verify the user behind the device. This allows clients to predict fraud before a critical decision, reduce customer insult, and investigate bad actors efficiently.RoleWe are looking for a Lead ML Software Development Engineer to join our Data Science and Machine Learning Platform team in the Vancouver office. This position will be technical in nature where you will design, develop and deploy machine learning systems that support Data Science solutions. Our ideal candidate would have experience in designing data flows, optimizing workflows in big data environments, functional programming and a strong understanding in ML concepts. You should want to be part of a team where your desire to grow and learn are valued and aptly rewarded; where using and contributing to open source are looked upon as an asset; where innovating and executing are core to your teams' beliefs.In this role, you will:• Work with big data platforms and technologies.• Design complex, but scalable, maintainable and efficient systems.• Maintain model pipelines, libraries and machine learning infrastructure.• Automate and optimize Data Science tasks and workflows.• Be responsible for the performance and the automated tests of our code.• Provide technical leadership of development tasks and projects.• Build cross-team collaboration and architecture ownership of the products of the team(s).• Independently analyze, propose and develop solutions for the most complex technical problems and issues.• Participate in technical design reviews, budget planning and product strategy.• Communicate closely and effectively with engineering management, leads, and peers to gather and understand requirements, share project status and deal with unexpected issues.• Ensure and enforce the adherence to the standards and procedures that result in an environment compliant with information security policy.• Manage junior and senior colleagues.• Measure the impact of your team and set clear expectations and goals.All About YouIdeally, you are:• A capable coder, able to write well-abstracted, production-quality code in Python, Java or similar. You're experienced in using cloud services (e.g. AWS, Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud), and machine learning tools (e.g. scikit-learn, Tensorflow and/or Keras).• Hands-on knowledge of any big data engine. You understand the benefits of batch processing and parallelization and know how to design a pipeline to scale-out machine learning workflows. You have experience working with distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark.• An effective communicator in visual, verbal and spoken channels, able to work with stakeholders in Product and Engineering.• Experienced in managing Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists. • Experienced in architecting end-to-end solutions for production deployment.• Relevant senior-level experience in software development.• Experience in working with, planning, designing, and analyzing big data systems (running notebooks, different SQL dialects).• Strong understanding of Data Science and Machine Learning concepts.• Experience in designing complex systems and dataflows.• Strong understanding of software development life cycle based on Atlassian platforms (Jira, Confluence).• Proven ability to write clean code that works, is readable, maintainable and follows best practices and coding standards, on schedule.• Mature understanding and technical leadership of object-oriented and functional design, languages, algorithms, data structures, networking, database design and optimization (i.e. CI/CD).• A philosophy of iteration and continuous improvement (i.e. Agile, SCRUM).It also helps if you are:• Collaborative.
