About the role We're looking for a Director, Software Development, to join our growing team! Our ideal candidate is a selfless and passionate advocate for our developers, our customers, the success of our team, and the usability of our software applications they deliver. Working at the intersection of technology and people, they must balance long-term direction, health of the team and individual careers of team members to ensure success in all these dimensions. This candidate should have a proven track record of leading agile development teams to deliver powerful yet intuitive applications that exceed user expectations. The Director will balance their time between leading the development teams, focusing on execution, influencing improvements (across productivity, innovation, quality, and predictability) and driving change. What you'll do here: Be part of a team that has embraced end-to-end ownership of products within our squads - feature development and evolution, DevSecOps, cloud operations and production support Contribute to a great work environment by providing exemplary leadership and by mentoring our emerging leaders and managers Collaborate with executive management and development team in defining the product vision and roadmap and ensuring successful execution and great product releases Evolve the existing software applications and architecture leveraging forward thinking methodologies and opening up innovative & programmatic ways for our customers to consume our products and services Manage a large portfolio of projects in a variety of technologies Hire outstanding talent that can work in high performing teams Communicate effectively across the organization to ensure that the team is completely aligned to the business objectives Build strong inter-personal relationships with peers and other key stakeholders that can help smoothen execution What you bring to the table: B.S. degree in Software Engineering or equivalent experience At least 10 years of experience in software development with experience on an Agile/Scrum team and at least 5 years of experience managing one or more software development teams Deep understanding of software engineering principles and process along with the ability to apply this knowledge to execute projects and optimize strategies Strong Program Management, Governance & Business Interaction skills Strong skills in critical thinking, decision making, problem solving, and attention to detail Proven success in improving software reliability and release predictability Experience in implementing SOA, API and Web Service concepts such as MASA Architecture, REST, SOA and XML/JSON Experience in insurance industry, and specifically Claims, is a strong asset No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country #LI-Hybrid What we offer Working here means you'll be empowered to be and do your best every day.
