Head of Legal @ Industrial services business

We are working with an industrial services business headquartered in Rotterdam who are looking for a Head of Legal to come in and build out the legal function- this will the first legal hire for the business.Position Summary:This pivotal role will involve overseeing all legal aspects of the business, advising on a broad range of legal issues, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in worldwide operations. The Head of Legal will be a key advisor to the senior management team, providing strategic legal guidance on business transactions, corporate governance, risk management, and litigation matters.Key Responsibilities:Lead the legal function for the organisation, ensuring legal conformity and minimising risk of exposure.Develop and oversee the company's legal strategies in alignment with its corporate objectives.Manage all corporate matters including compliance issues, corporate governance, and business ethics.Draft, negotiate, and review complex commercial contracts and agreements with partners, suppliers, and clients.Provide expert and strategic legal advice to management on new laws, existing laws, and legal rights that would impact functionality.Handle and oversee the litigation and disputes involving the company, working closely with external counsel.Liaise with relevant departments to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken.Implement robust compliance policies and protocols, and conduct training sessions for compliance awareness across the organisation.Manage the legal team and external legal resources effectively, ensuring high levels of service.Qualifications/experience:Qualified lawyerMinimum of 10 years of professional legal experience in a law firm or corporate setting, with a strong preference for experience in the environmental, energy, or heavy industry sectors.EPC experienceDemonstrated leadership and management ability in a high-pressure environment.Profound knowledge of statutory legislation and regulations.Excellent negotiation and communications skills.Strong analytical and organizational skills.For more information please feel free to reach out to Martin Evensen- martin@heriotbrown.com
