Senior Engineer Power Analysis

Description Job Purpose: Provide electrical system network analysis, load flow, short circuit, protection setting reports and engineering support to operating and maintenance departments as per company requirements, established health, safety and quality standards and recognized industry best practices for maximizing process plant asset utilization. Act as SME for Power Systems and Relay Protection systems and participate in maintaining Refinery wide engineering specifications and procedures. Note, the Refinery operates with islanded generation so transient analysis experience is essential. Implement assigned major capital expenditure projects and lead electrical design for specific project development. Key Areas: 1. Be responsible for electrical system network analysis for the Refinery and Sitra tanks using internationally recognized software such as Electrical Transient Analysis Program (ETAP) or equivalent for enabling maximum process plant asset utilization by the end users. 2. Act as Subject Matter Expert for power systems and relay protection; participate in maintaining Refinery wide engineering specifications and procedures in accordance with best practice and industry standards; provide support in electrical system network analysis to the project teams. 3. Provide quality assurance of the engineering outputs to ensure that all assigned projects completed on time and within budget. 4. Conduct investigations into the problems assigned by engineering services requests and provide cost estimates to the operating departments for the implementation of solutions. 5. Provide approved engineering drawings to carry out essential repairs. 6. Provide specifications to maintenance departments for purchase of replacement equipment. Oversee purchase of long lead engineered replacement equipment in order to meet shutdown schedules. 7. Implement justifiable projects after obtaining Company approvals. 8. Participate in management of change review teams and in HAZOP studies to ensure safe working and operating conditions in the plant. 9. Maintain integrity of engineering documentation by ensuring adherence to all relevant Company standards. Knowledge, Skills and Expertise: Minimum Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent. 10 years of experience in the oil refining, oil and gas production or petrochemical industries, particularly electrical system analysis and protection settings. Proficiency in Electrical Transient Analysis Program (ETAP) software. Sound knowledge of International Engineering Standards. Good interpersonal skills. Excellent problem-solving skills. Good communication skills Ability to write clear and concise reports, letters, proposals, memoranda & presentation Company Industry
