We are currently looking for a Senior Ecologist. This position performs a variety of fieldwork, technical analyses, and supervision of contractors and subconsultants required for the delivery of environmental planning and permitting work for a variety of mining and power clients. This role has substantial knowledge of EIA/ESIA work, WB-IFC requirements, and basic knowledge of other environmental regulations, and understands the objectives of such work. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for large terrestrial infrastructure projects
- Conduct Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (EMMP) for the construction phase of infrastructure projects
- Conduct site inspection to identify environmental issues and non-compliances
- Provide recommendations to improve the site's environmental performance
- Liaise with Client and contractors on implementing the recommended measures, correction measures
- Prepare and/or review technical report of the EMMP projects in Manila
- Presenting the technical reports to the client and local Government agencies.Liaise with client and Local Authorities on the acceptance of the EMMP report
- Provide technical inputs to a team of environmental engineers for EIA/EMMP projects
- Technical background as ecologist with over 8 years consultancy experience, able to use a broad range of practical and theoretical knowledge for a variety of protected species and survey skills to advise on species survey requirements, appropriate mitigation measures, practical management and implementation.
- Should have strong technical skills, to write, and review the technical reports and integrate standard to complex EIA reports
- Sound understanding of Philippines and international environmental and social impacts assessment process including project screening, scoping, technical analysis, stakeholder engagement, and approvals.
- Substantial knowledgeable of WB-IFC performance standards; and,
- Ability to design environmental management and monitoring plans with respect to the Ecology/biodiversity/natural base solutions;
- Strong GIS experience.
- No restriction to travel on short or long-term field assignments to perform environmental assessment or remediation work;
- A strong sense of teamwork and ability to work under pressure;
- Good interpersonal skills as lead consultant liaising with Local Authorities and Project Stakeholders
- Has project management experience and prepare technical proposals with sound approach and methodology.
- A graduate of forestry or other natural science courses, preferably with post graduate degree related to forestry, biology (major in botany or plant biology) and other related fields;
- A registered EIA preparer or equivalent is a plus; and,
- With minimal 8 years or greater relevant work experience in terrestrial ecology or EIA/ESIA work.
