• Wholesale Credit Approval function is one of the activities within Wholesale Credit Risk Management [WCRM]. WCRM is responsible for formulating credit policies, systems and controls for the approval, management and control of wholesale credit exposures, specifically including credit assessment & approval process; monitoring & control of lending and loss prevention & recovery procedures.
• The HASE (Hang Seng Bank) Approvals Team in WCRM CoE, undertakes judgemental credit decisioning for wholesale credit applications originating from HASE, HK. The credit proposals encompassing multiple credit products across various industry sectors are submitted by the HASE CMB Relationship Managers for appraisal & approval. The approvers exercise the CRR based lending authority delegated to them for approving wholesale credit applications. Additionally, the approvers will be recommending GB proposals to Onshore Risk.

• The aim of this job is to contribute towards building sound quality asset portfolio and a conservative credit culture while ensuring that the credit approval process remains responsive to the customer needs. The job also involves assisting the management of the centralized credit risk management function for the region in the GSC environment.

• Lead & manage the Offshore HASE Approvals Team.
• Analyse new / existing counterparties in the Commercial Banking/Global Banking Segment of HASE and approve / recommend a lending position within appropriate delegated credit authority.
• Work independently on credit proposals to reach a solution in close and constructive collaboration with colleagues within WCRM CoE, WCRM HASE and HASE CMB & GB Relationship teams.
• Manage relationship with various stakeholders.
• Closely monitor risk events and be able to timely escalate to management.
• Prepare for audit, regulatory initiatives and internal projects pertaining to credit risk management.
• Represent WCRM CoE in Shared Services and new Business initiatives where required.
• Coordinating with local & onshore support functions for infrastructural and HR related issues
• Flexibility to travel, if required.
