About us  Waterford Security is a family-owned and 100% New Zealand-owned business. Since 1994, we’ve built a reputation up and down the country for providing well-informed advice and prompt, dependable service. Our clients include government organisations, banks, hospitals, large recreational facilities like sport stadiums, and owners of multi-storey commercial and residential buildings.  With offices in Auckland, Wellington, and now Palmerston North, we install, maintain, manage and repair electronic security systems, including access control, CCTV and alarms, providing service across the whole of New Zealand.  We pride ourselves on being at the cutting edge of new technology and providing exceptional service to our clients. We will never install a product we don’t believe provide our clients with an appropriate and reliable solution for their business.  About the role  The General Manager of Sales is a key new position within our team. Reporting to the Managing Director, this role will lead and develop the national sales team and champion exceptional account management and client experience across New Zealand. You’ll oversee the sales, brand and marketing strategies, with a view to drive revenue growth, and meet our strategic goals. Day to day, this role will: 

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team 
  • Deliver and influence the sales, marketing and brand strategies 
  • Innovate, lead and develop the Waterford Security offering 
  • Streamline our sales processes, looking for efficiencies and setting best practice 
  • Set annual revenue targets and provide reporting and advice to the Managing Director on sales activities and progress 
  • Collaborate with the General Manager Operations to ensure a smooth transition between the two areas 
With our team split between Wellington and Auckland, and a growing team in Palmerston North, this role will be Auckland based but will require regular travel.  About you   You will be a natural leader with extensive experience in leading, developing, and motivating a team. Building relationships will be a strength for you, and you’ll be motivated by doing the best for our clients and the team. You will be highly organised, with an ability to see the big picture, and streamline our processes. You’ll bring an understanding of the sales cycle and be able to remove barriers and mentor your team to be successful. You will also bring: 
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and people management experience 
  • Experience in a similar, strategic level role, with a national focus 
  • An ability to look for efficiencies and manage change 
  • A collaborative, outcome focused approach
  • A high level of confidentiality and ability to build trust 
As part of this role, you must be able to gain and maintain Police and NZSIS security clearances, as well as a Certificate of Approval.
