Job Summary The Connected Living team at Comcast is currently seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join the Xfinity Camera Platform Team. The ideal candidate should possess a comprehensive technical background along with strong communication and collaboration skills. In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing a diverse team of 4-6 full-time engineers and contractors, ranging in experience from entry-level to Principal. Your role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including leadership, mobile and API developers, UX designers, test engineers, operations engineers, as well as product and business managers. As a key technical leader, you will play a crucial role in leading project initiatives for Connected Living applications. Additionally, the role requires you to be an independent and critical thinker, adapting quickly to changing business and customer demands. Active involvement in hiring, recruiting, and interviewing activities is also a key aspect of this position. Job Description Qualifications
- 1+ years leading software engineers, setting goals and developing career plans either as a manager or a Team Lead
- 5+ years’ experience building Java-based applications and/or middleware services
- Knowledge of the Agile Software Development Life Cycle process
- Experience with and RESTful web services
- Experienced in the design of Internet-scale applications and platforms; knowledgeable in performance tuning and capacity management
- Providing guidance to engineering teams and other departments in identifying product and technical requirements
- Strong competence in development level-of-effort and timing estimation
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Self-Development via an awareness of one’s strengths and weaknesses, and openness to other viewpoints
- Demonstrating interest in others, encouraging adaptive development, and promoting a sustainable and inclusive team culture
- Serving as a coach and mentor for early-career and mid-level mobile engineers
- Providing regular feedback and coaching regarding both job performance and career development
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
