The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for developing and maintaining the finance and accounting policies and procedures, and ensures that it is properly implemented across the company in support to organisations goals towards maximizing revenue and reducing costs.
This role involves taking overall responsibility for the accuracy and timely reported financial information to the company managers.
Key Responsibilities
1.Analyse financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement, cash flow, inventory reconciliation, budget, and other reports to summarise the current and projected company financial position.
2.Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, employer's benefit costs, accruals and prepaid expenses.
3.Assists in implementing accounting procedures for the purpose of providing internal financial controls throughout the company and ensuring compliance with established accounting practices and all applicable regulatory requirements.
4.Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions on issues that relate to financial operations for the purpose of providing direction and/or making decisions for the company
5.Reviews and resolves discrepancies with payroll and/or benefit information and/or documentation ( payroll, salary status, late hires, leaves of absence, separating employees, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy of records and employee payments.
6.Supervises a wide variety of payroll information and data entry ( direct deposits, pre-notes, leave balances, salary, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines.
7.Assists auditors for the purpose of providing supporting documentation and/or information on internal process that is required for audit.
8.Audit contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepare reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
9.Help establish, modify, document, and coordinate implementation of accounting control procedures.
10.Help devise and implement changes and improvements to the employer's computer-based financial accounting system.
11.Help and coordinate activities with other accountants and clerical workers performing accounting and bookkeeping tasks including assisting with other company accounts when required
12.Daily oversight of assigned company account(s) for compliance with guidelines, internal policies and regulatory issues.
13.Review all company account(s) on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to ensure compliance with general accounting principles and company procedures and closings.
14.Understand the business in order to question transactions and raise any issues or recommendations to management.
15.Enforce company policy for security controls including locking drawers, shutting down PC, and securing passwords.
16.Keeping all pending and outstanding issues in order per company policies for electronic and physical files in case of absence.
17.Advise on best practice.
18.Provide weekly and monthly management reports.
19.Assist management with special projects or requests.
20.Make recommendations on improving efficiency.
21.Develop and implement policies and best practices.
22.Other duties as required.
Required Skills and Experience
CPA
Fluent English and Arabic verbal and written skills
Experience of VAT with Egyptian experience desirable
Extreme attention to detail and written documentation
Ability to interpret written guidelines and legal documents
Ability to communicate effectively
Highly motivated and enjoys working autonomously
Ability to work as part of a team
Willingness to provide assistance and experience to other accountants
Proficient in various accounting computer systems and software applications
Propensity to learn new technological systems and software programmes
Culturally sensitive, cross-cultural work experience
Good ICT skills
Excellent prioritisation and time management skills
Loyalty to the company and your entrusted position through extreme confidentiality, responsibility and initiative
The ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines, flexibility and a strong team orientated approach are also important.
