General Summary
Reporting directly to the Athletics Coordinator, this position is responsible for creating and maintaining a successful volleyball program at RIT Dubai. Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The volleyball coach must be able to manage the administrative duties of the job, recruit top players, get them in shape, create a team, motivate players and teach them how to play the game.
• General Duties and Responsibilities:
o Demonstrates appropriate level of skills and knowledge of the sport of volleyball
o Evaluate and recruit qualified student athletes
o Develop practice schedules and teach the fundamental skills and drills of the game
o Manage all aspects of the team including fitness, practicing, competing and scheduling
o Assist in the planning of sport events such as Sports Day and tournaments hosted by RIT Dubai
o Establish and maintain an ethical and moral code of behavior by the athletes
o Assure proper safety is maintained during all practices and games
o Conduct fitness classes for the RIT community
o Assist with tournament registration
Job Requirements:
• Experience as a coach and/or playing volleyball
• Skills in training and instructing the basic fundamentals and concepts of basketball
• Strong commitment to Student Athletes
• Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills, energetic, enthusiastic, and motivational
• Ability to resolve conflicts in a professional, tactful manner
• Ability to acknowledge difficult situations and respond accordingly
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
Required Qualifications for the Position
• Certified Volleyball Coach
• First Aid and CPR Certified
