A Chief Steward trains, supports, and motivates the Stewarding team to deliver an excellent experience for Guests and Team Members, while ensuring all service standards are implemented accordingly. What will I be doing? As a Chief Steward, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Run the Stewarding department efficiently and at the highest standards.
- Maintain hygiene standards in the kitchen, banquet, and all operational areas while controlling the breakage and loss of all utensils and equipment.
- Ensure the flow and supply of operating equipment in the kitchen; responsible for providing adequate cleaning items and useful equipment.
- Oversee the cleanliness of all food and beverage outlets and the Team Restaurant.
- Assign detailed tasks for all stewards to keep and update the steward operation manual, chemicals list, and cleaning schedule; prepare and control chemicals and equipment for daily use; attend required meetings and training.
- Prepare and carry out the monthly inventory; control and report internal situations of breakage and loss; prepare chemicals purchasing requests and equipment according to stock levels.
- Ensure the Stewarding Team has full knowledge and understanding of compliance regulations as they affect sanitation and hygiene, as set by internal and local legal requirements.
- Observe guidelines when handling hazardous substances and comply with all aspects of Health and Safety requirements.
- Work with all departments to ensure items required for service are available when needed.
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks set by the Hotel's Management.
- Good organizational and planning skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work independently or in teams.
- Flexibility to respond to a range of various work situations.
- A passion for building excellent relationships with colleagues.
- A high school certificate or equivalent and any other related qualifications.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role.
- Experience in the hotel/leisure industry.
