Payment architect

We are looking for a Payment Architect for our banking client in Dubai. Job Title: Payment Architect Location: Dubai Salary: As per market range. Duration: 12 Months.

1. Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled Payment Architect to lead the transition from MT to MX messaging formats within our payment systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in payment architecture, SWIFT messaging standards, and a deep understanding of financial services.

2. Reporting Line

Reports directly to Lead Architect, Information Technology.

3. Key Responsibilities

Functional Responsibilities:

1. Lead Transition: Oversee the migration from MT to MX messaging formats, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption to payment operations.
2. Architecture Design: Develop and implement robust payment architecture strategies that support the new MX messaging standards.
3. System Integration: Collaborate with IT and business teams to integrate MX messaging into existing systems, ensuring compatibility and efficiency.
4. Compliance and Standards: Ensure all payment systems comply with SWIFT standards and regulatory requirements.
5. Technical Role: Provide technical guidance to development teams, ensuring best practices in payment processing and messaging.
6. Performance Optimization: Optimize payment processing systems for performance, scalability, and reliability.
7. Documentation and Training: Create comprehensive documentation and provide training to stakeholders on the new MX messaging standards and processes.
8. Stakeholder Management: Engage with internal and external stakeholders to communicate progress, challenges, and solutions related to the transition.

4. Skills

1. Hands-on knowledge of the latest payment technologies, architecture frameworks, and integration platforms.
2. Experience in a business-facing role demonstrating presentation skills.
3. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
5. Working knowledge of defining API specifications for REST or Web Services.
6. Knowledge of API & Interface governance, design standards, and principles.
7. Knowledge in Cloud Deployments – AWS, Azure; professional certification is an advantage.
8. Knowledge of hardware sizing and defining application architecture that is highly available and scalable.
9. Banking domain knowledge – understanding of current opportunities and challenges in the Financial Services industry.

5. Education and Experience

Minimum formal education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Total Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in payment architecture, with a focus on SWIFT messaging standards. Certification requirement: Relevant certifications in payment systems, SWIFT, or international payments are a plus. TOGAF Certification (Preferred).
