Senior Financial Accountant - NSW State Government Contract Duration: 5 Months Hourly Rate: $75 + super Location: CBD + WFH

Key Accountabilities

1. Prepare financial statements, reports and accounting workpapers to inform NSW Treasury and other stakeholders on the organisational financial position, in accordance with established deadlines.
2. Prepare pre-payment and accrual journals and other end of month activities to enable informed financial decision making and budget forecasting.
3. Implement and undertake accounting functions and projects as required, including asset management, cash management, systems development and process improvement to support organisational requirements.
4. Proactively identify and resolve financial risks including transactional, reporting and account reconciliation issues, and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the Department’s audit and compliance requirements are met.
5. Work closely with the Department’s financial services providers to ensure that the processing of financial transactions is accurate and timely under the terms of service level agreement.
6. Partner with key stakeholders by providing general financial advice on policy and procedures to ensure legislative requirements are met.

Essential Requirements

1. Experience in accounting and related software systems (SAP, Oracle or similar).
2. Relevant tertiary qualifications and eligibility for membership to a professional accounting body.
3. Experience with tax and foreign exchange exposure.
