Monitoring & Compliance Officer (Animal Control)

All about the job We are looking for a customer service focused officer who will safeguard the community through assisting with providing an effective animal control service. You will be guided by the Dog Control Act 1996 and Council Policy and Bylaws. If you are ready for the challenge this could be the job for you! You will be responsible for:
  • Patrolling streets and beaches and educating dog owners and the general public
  • Responding to public complaints surrounding dog and stock complaints
  • Investigating complaints, taking statements and completing report files and administration
  • Providing education to animal owners of their obligations
  • Seizure and impoundment of animals where appropriate
  • Making decisions based on the seriousness or potential harm represented
  • Cleaning pound facilities and feeding impounded animals
  • Assisting the vet with animal euthanisation procedures
All about you This is a permanent full-time role working Monday to Friday. Previous enforcement/dog control experience would be an advantage but is not essential. You’ll need to show us that you:
  • have experience working in compliance or enforcement roles
  • are confident in handling and working with animals or stock
  • have good written skills to write reports and complete administration tasks
  • have a proven ability to communicate effectively with members of the public
  • are effective in resolving conflict in a calm and positive manner
  • have a high level of energy, good initiative and a can-do attitude
  • have a full unrestricted driver licence and a good level of fitness to meet the physical demands of the role.
