MEP Specialist
تفاصيل الوظيفة
About us Our goal is to engineer true excellence for the built environment. We have been providing innovative engineering solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial sectors since 1987. Our company has recently established an Electromechanical Engineering Department and we are seeking highly motivated and skilled engineers to join our team. Job Overview The ideal candidate should direct and oversee electrical, mechanical, and fire protection works at construction sites, resolve issues, and ensure that work is completed according to specifications. They should be able to balance project management and engineering tasks ranging from designing electrical, mechanical, and fire protection plans to monitoring onsite personnel performing associated electrical, mechanical, and fire protection works. They should ensure that plans and work are completed according to Bahrain's local regulations (Municipality, EWA, Civil Defence, etc.), and international standards (IEC/IEEE, NFPA, ASME, ASTM, ASHRAE, etc.). They should also conduct testing and maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and fire protection systems, including final inspections prior to job completion. Roles & Responsibilities
- Design MEP Systems : Design electrical, mechanical, and fire protection systems for commercial, residential, and industrial construction projects. This includes MV and LV power systems, electrical distribution systems, water supply and drainage systems, fire alarm systems, firefighting systems, and IT systems (fiber optic, UPS, building automation). Work closely with designers to determine how to effectively incorporate MEP elements, define specifications, and prepare blueprints.
- Perform Calculations for MEP Systems : Perform calculations to ensure proper sizing of electrical, mechanical, and fire protection equipment (cable sizing, water/drainage/firefighting pipe sizing, etc.). Determine maximum electrical demand for consumers to size electrical distribution systems. Calculate water demand for different buildings. Determine the sensible cooling loads in buildings for HVAC systems.
- Direct MEP Technicians : Directly oversee and manage teams of electrical, mechanical, and fire protection technicians and subcontractors. Direct daily activities, answer questions about technical requirements and electrical/mechanical/fire protection codes, and guide workers throughout the construction process.
- Resolve MEP Issues : Resolve issues related to electrical/mechanical/fire protection systems or devices that arise during construction. Changes to a building’s design or practical concerns may result in existing electrical/mechanical/fire protection plans and blueprints no longer being viable, or specifications may change requiring a different electrical/mechanical/fire protection design, therefore quickly revise plans and resolve issues to prevent delays.
- Develop Cost Estimates : Help develop cost estimates for both material and labor. By analyzing drawings and site specifications, determine the material quantity that the project will require. Estimate manpower and timelines, giving project managers the information needed to ensure the project remains within schedule.
- Manage Construction Schedules : Manage construction schedules related to electrical/mechanical/fire protection elements of job sites. Work closely with both planners and utility providers to determine when project milestones need to be completed to avoid delays and maintain profitability. Determine schedules in collaboration with subcontractors to ensure that electrical/mechanical/fire protection work is completed in tandem with other elements of the project.
- Conduct System Testing : Conduct tests of electrical/mechanical/fire protection systems throughout the construction process. Test individual components or the whole system, including overseeing final inspections of the job. Check technicians’ work to ensure adherence to local and national regulations, safe operation of all devices, and accurate system delivery.
