THE ROLE As a member of the peopleCare nursing team this position will deal with, policy and procedure development and staff education and training related to nursing and PSW care. This role will facilitate and coordinate training opportunities at all levels within the organization. The position ensures all legislative standards, company policies and procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to in a professional manner. Reports to: Director of Care RESPONSIBILITIES • Provides leadership to the nursing and PSW care team in employing the accountability framework set forth by CNO and peopleCare’s policies and procedures • Supports development of goals and objectives and evaluates outcomes, consistent with Mission, Vision, Values and Operational Plan in collaboration with the Management Services Group and leadership teams • Develop and implement corporate education and training schedule in collaboration with Nursing Staffing Manager for core staff, agency staff, students, new hires. • Supports ADOC in staff education and training with publicly reported indicators • Support, implementation, evaluation of CNO best practice for nursing and PSW care • Ensures physician’s orders and administrative policies are implemented. • Processes physician’s orders as required. • Assures observance with required techniques in nursing care. • Prepares, implements, reviews and evaluates the resident’s plan of care. • Participates in scheduled and required assessment process. • Responsible for resident safety - according to role. • Supports RPN’s in their roles through education, evaluation, mentorship • Maintains competency • Participates in quality assurance meetings. • Supports Clinical Nurse with Care conferences, Physician rounds through education, evaluation and mentorship • Review 24-72 hours shift reports • Uses safe work practices. • Reports any actual or potential hazard to the immediate supervisor. • Uses or wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required. • Participates in fire safety activities and know the facility fire and disaster plan. • Maintains a clean and orderly work area. • Does not use or operate any equipment in a way that would endanger any worker, resident or visitor. • Supports wellness for residents and employees. • Complies with WSIB company policies and procedures. • Develop educational partnerships to enhance training opportunities within the organization • Maintain current best practices through training opportunities throughout the organization • Ensure education and training of all employees meets or exceeds legislation requirements • Assist in developing training for and training of front-line employees • Attends in-service education to maintain professional competency. • Attends all mandatory education as provided by the company. • Maintains up to date reflective practice requirements. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • 5 years’ experience with adult training and education required • 3 years related long-term care experience in leadership required • Possesses an undergraduate degree an asset • Qualifications in Adult Education and Training an asset • Current certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing • Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario • Must maintain competencies as per the governing College standards • Must possess strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, time management and customer focus skills • Must have demonstrated sound clinical knowledge and ability to delegate to unregulated care providers • Skills in use of computer and Microsoft Office applications Thanks for your interest in working with us!
