Position Summary
- The I&C Engineer is responsible to the I&C Supervisor for safe and effective operation and maintenance of the Bahrain LNG Import Terminal.
- The I&C Engineer will have a background in plant maintenance on hydrocarbon processing systems with experience in a similar role maintaining plants handling high pressure gas and cryogenic liquids, preferably LNG. Experience in marine terminal operations and maintenance is preferred.
- The I&C Engineer is responsible for the daily execution of allocated jobs on operation and maintenance of the Terminal instrument equipment in a safe manner including instrumentation isolations / de-isolations.
- The role is a position working 5 days per week and providing out of hours and weekend cover as required to provide the capability to respond to emergencies, process upsets and breakdowns 24/7.
Major Responsibilities
Ensure that safety is the primary focus for all maintenance functions.- Execution of the maintenance of the Bahrain LNG Import Terminal systems and equipment ensuring that all activities are conducted to the required standards and that the reliability and availability of the Terminal is in accordance with, or exceeds, targets and contractual obligations.
- Comply with HSSEQ requirements to ensure a safe working environment, minimizing emissions to the environment and using the principles of continuous improvement to enhance working practices and maintenance procedures.
- Performing I&C duties in line with terminal Standard Jobs and ensure to perform them in compliance with Terminal Permit to Work System.
- Maintain DCIS and PLC system, with knowledge of system interface.
- Maintain the Operating System Workstations and servers.
- Conducting Risk Assessments and Toolbox Talks, safe work under the Permits to Work and execution of isolations and overrides (Lock out/Tag out).
- Timely notification of I&C Supervisor on required consumables, tools, services and the like to ensure that required spare parts / tools / services are available for planned and corrective maintenance and scheduled overhaul of equipment.
- Ensure a consistent approach to reporting maintenance in the CMMS including use of failure cause and effect codes, consumed materials, manhours etc. to allow trend development and lead improvement.
- Provide support to all the Terminal disciplines as required to assist in meeting reliability, availability and maintainability performance metrics.
- Fulfil designated role in Emergency Response Team as required.
- Supervision of equipment manufacturers or vendor’s technicians while they are at Bahrain LNG Import Terminal to conduct maintenance tasks on designated equipment.
- Start-up, shutdown, isolations / de-isolation of Instrument equipment.
- Ensure all inspection activities are prepared and executed in a safe and timely manner with a due quality to ensure required level of Asset Integrity and Process Safety is achieved.
- If requested walkdowns of Instrumentation equipment, timely and precise reporting on observed deviations, breakdowns, abnormal conditions etc.
- All activities to be in accordance with strategies, policies, guidelines, plans, manuals, process procedures, standards, codes, protocols, prudent practices, legal requirements, best international industry practice and to the highest ethical standards.
- Other activities requested by I&C Supervisor and their line managers.
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Engineering Degree, Diploma or recognized Professional Engineering qualification or relevant professional training and experience with appropriate vocational qualifications.
- Marine qualifications at an appropriate level may be acceptable provided experience includes service in a relevant rank onboard LNG ship with responsibility for maintenance execution aligned with time spent working in marine terminals and onshore facilities with associated knowledge of regasification processes.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the maintenance of hydrocarbon process systems preferably with experience with LNG and/or high-pressure natural gas.
- Knowledge and understanding of instrumentation & Control, design / commissioning / operation and maintenance of the Terminal instrument equipment.
- Logic configuration in control system (preferred in Yokogawa System or Rockwell PLC).
- Good background on the control system communication protocols (Ethernet, Modbus, OPC & TCP/IP).
- Good IT background and understand the industrial workstations operation and functionality.
- Knowledge and understanding of explosion-proof equipment. IEC certification is a significant benefit.
- Good skills to interface with the subsystems and smart devices for maintaining the Gas Analyzers, flow computers and accessing the field PLCs.
- Operational technology cybersecurity practices.
- Experience of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, Planned Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance, Condition Based Maintenance, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and Condition Monitoring Systems.
- Experience of Safe Systems of Work, Permit to Work, control of isolations and overrides.
- Experience in instrumentation equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Proven qualification and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent English speaker.
Desirable Qualities
- Ability to work independently.
- Experience of Pre-commissioning, Commissioning and Start-Up of LNG Terminal or petrochemical/hydrocarbon process facilities.
- Knowledge and experience of LNG re-gasification processes and Nitrogen Production facilities.
- Should have at least 5 years of experience in control system engineering.
- Knowledge and experience on IT system and networking.
- Knowledge of O&G instrumentation & Control.
- Health & Safety training, qualifications, and experience.
- Demonstrable motivational skills.
