04.02.2025 New opportunity Deadline will be 7/3/2025 at 17:00 UAE local time The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership between 27 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organizations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy. The EU Delegation to the United Arab Emirates works in close coordination with the Embassies and Consulates of the 27 EU Member States. We are a fully-fledged diplomatic mission and represent the European Union in dealings with the UAE government in areas that are part of the EU’s remit. We offer The post of Media & Information Analyst (Local Agent Group 1) in the Political, Press & Information Section. The team consists of 6 people and there are occasional atypical working hours. The successful candidate will serve under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of Political, Press & Information Section, providing support, expertise and assistance as a Media Information Analyst . Main tasks and duties:
  • Assist the Delegation in devising and executing information, communication and media activities to improve the visibility of and knowledge about the EU in the UAE, including speechwriting.
  • Contribute to the drafting and implementation of the Delegation's social media strategy.
  • Analyse the trends and developments in the information environment in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Oman and provide recommendations for improving the understanding of the EU's values, policies and projects based on fact-based information and proactive communication.
  • Establish and maintain a network of key information environment experts in the countries concerned, who could support the EU Delegations in monitoring and awareness raising activities.
  • Design, implement and coordinate campaigns, local outreach events and communications projects on specific issues and priorities, including media information relations towards the EU and its partnership with the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia or Oman.
  • Perform other tasks as designated by the Head(s) of Section and/or Head(s) of Delegation and co-operate closely with the other Press and Information Officer and ensure replacement in his/her absence.
The base salary will depend on relevant and verified employment experience, typically starting from 32,035 AED. There is a competitive benefits package, subject to certain conditions, including personal leave days and public holidays, health insurances and a retirement savings plan. The expected start date will be June 2025. Minimum requirements / eligibility criteria
  • Have completed university studies of at least three years attested by a diploma, preferably in political science or equivalent, international relations, journalism, communications, economics or other related field.
  • Have at least three years of relevant professional experience in communications, preferably in the international and multi-cultural environment.
  • Have a native command of Arabic.
  • Have a professional knowledge of the English language and possibly other European languages.
  • Be a national of the United Arab Emirates or a national of a Member State of the European Union or a national of a third country having the right to live and work in the United Arab Emirates.
  • Be medically fit to perform the required duties and enjoy civil rights and hold the necessary permits for employment under local law.
Assets
  • Experience of working in a team in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment.
  • Experience of working with social media analytics.
  • Experience in public speaking.
