KEY RESULTS / ACCOUNTABILITIES / PERFORMANCE MEASURES (helps to define purpose of job) Responsible for managing a fabrication bay starting from receipt of production drawings, preparation of monthly/weekly schedules based on the shop monthly plan, job distribution among down-the-level reports & workforce, streamlining raw materials & production workflow, organizing the required resources, implementation of best fabrication practices for the improvement of safety, productivity & quality, coordination with all stakeholders on day-to-day issues, and progress reporting to meet management objectives and project requirements. Critical to the production process, the QC Engineer inspects and ensures the quality of welds and dimensional accuracy of work performed by production staff. The QC Engineer uses a high degree of proficiency while utilizing full skills of the trade, including knowledge of codes and standards to verify that the final product is free of defects and meets the requirements of the contract documents. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each core responsibility satisfactorily. A successful Quality Inspector assures the consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing manufacturing practices and systems, validating processes, and providing necessary documentation to ensure quality excellence. JOB SUMMARY (Major functions of the position)

  • To understand Client requirements for each specific job and review work packages prior to start-work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with technical specifications and customer requirements.
  • To have full understanding about the Code requirements and Specification requirements for each specific project related to welding, fit-up, painting, galvanizing, etc.
  • Inspection of all activities as per the approved/agreed ITP or contract for a project.
  • Preparation of daily reports for the inspections carried out.
  • Coordinate with production department to carry out rectifications if found necessary on inspected items.
  • To ensure that the job file is maintained up to date with all reports, signatures, etc. from the Client and other interested parties involved.
  • To conduct toolbox talks for production personnel regarding welding, painting, fit-up quality.
  • Day-to-day updating of job status to Head of Production Department.
  • Maintain a rejection log, and records for rejection for analysis.
  • Able to measure parts and determine if they are meeting print specifications. Accepting the FIT-UP reports, preparation of material traceability, etc.
  • Maintain the Calibration certificates for the inspection equipment used.
  • Material Inspections, verification of material traceability records.
  • Ensure that the pre-fabrication and fabrication process used is in line with the project requirements.
  • Provide information and tips to fabrication crew to avoid reworks on fit-ups.
  • Updating the fit-up inspection on the system at the earliest, to facilitate welding entry on time.
  • Inspection of factory acceptance tests like pressure tests, leak tests, pneumatic tests, rotation tests, trimming, and ballasting tests, etc.
  • Final inspection of a completed item before release.
  • Coordinating with Client-appointed TPIs for day-to-day inspection activities as per ITP.
  • Updating themselves for the changes in the applicable construction codes and standards.
  • Shall be responsible for assisting HSE Department to achieve Zero LTI, and an accident-free working environment.
  • Raise stop cards, report Near Misses, etc., and shall have 100% commitment towards the management system followed in the organization.
  • Follow up for closing non-conformances and guide the shop floor if they feel difficulty. Assist with developing corrective actions, solutions, and improvements.
  • Active participation in QA/QC Meeting for improving work habits, reducing delays and overwork, and making the system efficient.
  • Perform a dimensional and visual inspection of shop fabrication, which includes final paint inspections, weld preparations, and final welds. Verify acceptable tolerance. Indicate completed inspection on corresponding inspection record.
  • Other assignments as and when instructed by the Senior Management like maintaining Delivery orders (Inward and Outward).
  • Responsible for fabricated materials conforming to drawings, shop standards, specifications, and applicable codes. Record and maintain in-process and final inspection records for quality assurance and production control.
  • To promote incident prevention and enforce positive HSE culture for the benefit of LITCO operatives, subcontractors, clients, and visitors.
  • Identify and remedy drawing discrepancies with detailers.
  • Inform foremen of defects in fabrication.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve product or production-related issues.
  • Report and address quality issues related to non-conforming material or components and obtain timely disposition to maintain production flow.
  • Prepare Material submittals, ITP, and submit along with samples for approval.
  • Prepare Documents for MIR & WIR.
  • Assist shop personnel with the interpretation of codes, drawings, and specifications.
  • MATERIAL CONTROL:
  • Process orders for shipping, providing accurate documentation in accordance with relevant legislation, customer, and carrier requirements.
  • To ensure all customers receive full, accurate & on-time orders.
  • Receive and book goods in to correct locations in an accurate and timely manner, liaising with intercompany and planning teams for any discrepancies or quality issues.
  • Deal with any stock discrepancies or quality issues efficiently.
  • Maintain knowledge of products and processes involved in the day-to-day delivery of goods.
  • Support and suggest the effective management of inward & outward flow of inventory.
  • Encompass aspects of receiving goods, stock handling, stock locating, picking of works orders, cycle counting.
  • Ensure that the execution of the dispatch sequence is maintained within the required dates.
  • Ensure all aspects of the Dangerous Goods Act are fulfilled.
  • Actively involved in the on-time kitting of works orders and replenishment of line side stock.
  • Actively involved in maintaining batch and stock location accuracy on company software and ensuring tight stock control and stock rotation using FIFO principles.
  • You will be required to ensure that good housekeeping and health and safety regulations are adhered to within the work area. To contribute, be involved in, and actively support the continuous improvement process within every facet of the department.
  • Job-Specific Skills:
  • Understanding isometrics, GA, and detailed drawings. Understand Client specifications, fabrication tolerances, codes & standards & dimensions.
  • 3 years active inspection in the fabrication industry.
  • Knowledge in AWS D1.1, ASME Sec VIII Div. 1, ASME Sec IX, ASME B31.3. AWS / CSWIP – 3.1 welding inspector certification (Welding inspectors only).
  • NACE or BGAS level II certification (Painting only).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical notes, and specifications.
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
