About the Role The position involves supporting the business area and key stakeholders in technical writing, including assessing current capability and developing necessary tools and training to build capability. The role requires collaborating with subject-matter experts to develop and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation, while ensuring that Standards are accurate, complete, and consistent with the organisation's standards and guidelines. Support the business area and key Transport Standard stakeholders around ‘technical writing’, by assessing current capability and developing necessary tools and training to build capability. Collaborate with subject-matter experts to develop, organise, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation. Ensure Transport Standards are accurate, complete, and consistent with the organization's standards and guidelines. Research and investigate new ‘technical writing’ best practices and tools to ensure effective adoption within DTP. Preparation of technical documents and presentations, including working with SMEs to develop a range of pilot standards for existing engineering policies, standards or guidelines. Key Selection Criteria DTP is seeking a highly skilled professional to lead the development, implementation, and communication of Road Standards that will shape Victoria's transport network. This role requires the ability to provide expert and influential advice to senior stakeholders, addressing emerging issues and their long-term implications for the state. You will represent the department with authority, engaging with industry and internal teams on Road Standards, and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. The successful candidate will have exceptional written and presentation skills, coupled with the capability to design innovative processes and solutions to complex challenges. You will balance competing priorities while delivering policies and guidelines that enhance road safety and operational outcomes.
