We have 2 opportunities available in our Building Inspections team and want to hear from experienced inspectors looking for an opportunity to progress their careers here in Tauranga. As a Building Control Officer (BCO) Inspections, you will be working within our Building Inspections team to ensure that buildings in Tauranga City are safe and comply with the Building Act 2004. The role will involve being out and about on-site conducting inspections, providing advice and support to customers on building consent matters, and then completing the necessary paperwork and reporting requirements. The role offers flexibility to work between home and the office when not out and about conducting onsite visits. The organisation provides a supportive environment for continual learning and development, and you will have the opportunity to undertake ongoing development and training to keep up with ongoing changes to industry practices and regulation changes, as well as your own ongoing personal development. Our BCOs benefit from a competency-based remuneration system, meaning that we will increase your salary as your competency increases, in addition to the Council's normal remuneration programme. Ngā Pukenga | What you'll need to succeed
- Regulation 18 qualification of the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive approach to assisting customers.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Industry experience within the construction sector would be advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively within a highly structured regulatory framework.
