Our client is a large construction company currently looking for a Senior Accountant based in ABU DHABI who will be responsible for overseeing and executing month-end closing procedures, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and conducting audit preparation. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong accounting knowledge and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external auditors. Responsibilities include:

Review journal entries and ensure proper allocation of expenses and revenue.
Perform account reconciliation and investigate discrepancies.
Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for financial fluctuations.
Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Conduct preparation for external audits.
Provide necessary documentation and support to auditors during audit reviews.
Respond to auditor queries and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations (e.g., VAT tax filings).
Monitor and enforce internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial data is provided for decision-making.

Requirements

To be considered for the role, you need to possess the following criteria:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. CPA preferable.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS, GAAP).
Proficient in accounting software (preferably Oracle) and MS Excel.
Experience in month-end closing and audit preparation processes.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
Willing to work onsite and to be based in Abu Dhabi.
