Job Title: Staff grade Speech and Language Location: Portlaoise Hours: 35 hours per week Position: Full time Contract: 6 month specified purpose contract Are you a Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist seeking an opportunity to transform the lives of children and families with disabilities? Meet your potential employer: Charlene Cooke Healthcare Recruitment is seeking a Staff grade Speech and Language to join a dynamic Child Disability Team in Portlaoise. This is an excellent opportunity for a Staff grade Speech and Language to further their career while becoming part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team dedicated to supporting children with disabilities. The successful candidate will be working within an inter-disciplinary team with a variety of complex cases including children with moderate to severe ID. The geography covered is Edenderry, Portarlington and Mountmellick. Role Purpose: This Child Disability Team supports children with complex needs arising from a disability.As a member of the Interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for the provision of a speech & language therapy service including assessment, diagnostics and intervention as required to all children accessing the Early Intervention service and will work as a member of the inter transdisciplinary team providing services to children and families within the designated area. This Interdisciplinary team includes Senior & Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapists, Senior Physiotherapists, Senior Occupational Therapists, Staff grade Occupational Therapists, and Psychologists Clinical Supervision is provided by a Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist. Key Responsibilities: Plans and organises activities and necessary resources efficiently and effectively. Understands the importance of time management for themselves and in particular how this translates to organising their assigned caseload. Demonstrates the ability to arrange and schedule activities. Demonstrates sufficient clinical skills in assessment intervention and diagnostics to meet the specific needs of children with a range of disabilities / developmental delay in early services. To assess children as required and produce relevant reports in line with Assessment of need process. Is adequately aware of policy, legislative and professional requirements to ensure appropriate standards in their area of responsibility. Ensures strict compliance with health and safety standards and adheres to operational guidelines ensuring equipment is checked and working correctly in accordance with safety standards. To ensure that the needs of the service users are being adequately met by the speech & language therapy service provided. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills in speech & language therapy relevant to children with a range of physical/sensory/learning disabilities, to make a credible contribution to the service and actively engages in service development. Collaborate with the service user while working in partnership with the service user parent/family/carer and all other relevant stakeholders to identify and achieve goals. Forms strong positive working relationships across all areas of the service, builds on a common understanding. Demonstrates a supportive and reciprocating work style including strong empathy with service users. Essential: Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Speech & Language Therapist by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU. Full manual drivers licence with access to own transport. Clinical experience of working with children and their families as part of an interdisciplinary team with a paediatric FEDS caseload. Relevant training specific to children with disabilities (0-18 years) Demonstrates sufficient clinical skills in Speech and Language Therapy assessment, intervention and diagnostics to meet the specific needs of the relevant caseload 0 18 childrens services.
