MSSQL Database Administrator

The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, installing and managing our databases. You will ensure optimal database performance by analyzing database issues and monitoring database performance. Job Description:: Key points

Key Responsibilities Technical Expertise MUST HAVE

• Must have strong technical knowledge in MSSQL 2014 & above Administration.
• Execution of backup/recovery procedures and DB refreshes.
• Should have handled database installations as MSSQL DBA.
• Creation and Maintenance of Database Instances
• Event, database performance and availability monitoring.
• Exposure to Logical and Physical database design and Implementation.
• Install, configuring, applying patches to MSSQL servers.
• Knowledge and experience in Replication, Log Shipping, Clustering, Always On in SQL 2005 above– configure and basic troubleshooting.
• Backup monitoring, verification.
• Applying Database patches, upgrade and migration
• OS level activities related to database tasks.
• Log, scheduled Job Management through Control-M or similar products.
• Schema Object, Partition Management.
• Expertise in handling Database Maintenance related to Index and DBCC.
• Hands on expertise in Performance tuning.
• Development support/ debugging performance issues.
• Windows administration experience desired.
• Well averse with DB Scripting, SQL Profiler, Extended Events, Query Analyzer and Query Store and Intelligent query processing.
• Experience on ITIL/operations and production support

GOOD TO HAVE

• Good knowledge in MSBI
• Should have handled database installations as MSBI DBA.
• Experience in MSBI and its related components like SSAS/SSIS/SSRS and Power BI.
• Exposure to SSIS Packages, SSAS, SSRS and Power BI.
• Application DBA Exposure.
• PowerShell scripting

Shift/Oncall & Weekend Support Flexible to work in shifts/ weekends/On-Call support as follows: Shift Timings Morning Shift 4.30AM to 1.30PM Afternoon Shift 11.30AM to 8.30PM Afternoon Shift 1 12.30PM to 9.30PM ** Evening Shift 2.30PM to 11.30PM Evening Shift 1 3.30PM to 12:30AM ** ** Day light savings Period- Nov to Mar ( 1hour ahead) ** On-Call Support- To provide On-Call support services on rotational basis

• 11.30 PM Night to 4.30 am on weekdays after end of the evening shift work (Apr to Oct).
• 12.30 Midnight to 4.30 am on weekdays after end of the evening shift 1 shift work (Nov to Mar).
• 00:00 AM to 11:59PM on both Saturday and Sunday.

• Weekend Support - Mandatory to work on every 3rd Saturday of given month. ( Timings From time to end time to be mentioned )

Public Holiday Support – Paris Holidays (Client Holiday) will be followed as public holidays and not India holidays. Process & Tools

• ITSM tool- HP Service Now – Ticketing tool for INC/SR/Change/Problem tickets.
• In-house tools.
• HP OMI for monitoring.
• Strong knowledge on ITIL Process & Practices.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Information/Computer technology preferred.

Key Competencies:

• 7yrs (Min) of relevant experience in MSSQL/MSBI database administration.
• The candidate should have worked in a SLA driven environment.
• Ability to work in a flexible, team-oriented and constantly changing environment.
• Good Oral and Written communication skills
• Good knowledge on PowerShell/Python and T-SQL Scripting.
• Having MSSQL/MSBI certification will be added advantage.
• Having previous banking BAU support will be added advantage.
