IT Portfolio Manager About the Job The IT Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the organization’s IT project portfolio to ensure alignment with business goals and governance frameworks. This role involves coordinating resources, budgets, and risks across multiple projects, enabling the organization to maximize the value of its IT investments. Job Description The IT Portfolio Manager leads the strategic planning and management of the organization’s IT portfolio, ensuring that all IT projects contribute to the company’s overall objectives. They monitor project progress, manage resources and budgets, and report on portfolio performance to key stakeholders. The role also includes assessing risks and making adjustments to optimize the portfolio’s efficiency and effectiveness. Job Responsibilities

Develop and maintain the organization’s IT portfolio strategy to align IT initiatives with business goals.
Oversee the execution of multiple IT projects, ensuring they adhere to timelines , budgets , and quality standards .
Monitor and report on the status of IT projects , providing regular updates to stakeholders.
Assess and prioritize IT initiatives based on business value , cost-benefit analysis , and resource availability .
Implement and manage governance frameworks (e.g., ITIL, COBIT) to ensure IT projects comply with organizational standards.
Manage portfolio risks by identifying potential issues, evaluating their impact, and developing mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with project managers, business leaders, and IT teams to ensure effective coordination of resources and alignment with strategic objectives.
Monitor the financial performance of the IT portfolio, including budget tracking , cost optimization , and investment planning .
Facilitate portfolio review meetings to evaluate project performance, identify gaps, and drive continuous improvement.
Lead efforts to identify, evaluate, and implement new technologies or projects that add value to the organization.

Skills Essential Skills

Proven experience in project portfolio management within an IT environment.
Strong understanding of IT governance frameworks , such as ITIL , COBIT , or PMI Portfolio Management Standards .
Expertise in financial management , including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
Proficiency in portfolio management tools , such as Planview, Microsoft Project Online, or Jira Portfolio.
Excellent analytical skills to assess project performance, prioritize initiatives, and make data-driven decisions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with executives, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.

Desirable Skills

Certifications such as PfMP (Portfolio Management Professional) , PMP (Project Management Professional) , or ITIL Certification .
Knowledge of Agile portfolio management practices.
Experience with cloud-based projects or digital transformation initiatives .
