Location: Port Harcourt, Nigeria Reports to: E.D Finance About Company: Our client is a renowned Civil and Building Engineering Construction Group with Head Office and operations in South-South region of Nigeria. Compensation: N500, 000.00 monthly net + other benefits Job Summary: The Company is seeking to engage a suitable and qualified candidate as Finance and Accounts Manager who will be responsible for managing and overseeing accurate financial and management records in a reliable manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Producing financial reports related to Projects, Receivables, Payables, expenses, etc.
- Reviewing, monitoring, and managing budgets.
- Work with ED to constantly develop strategies that work to minimize financial risk and credit management.
- Collecting, interpreting, and reviewing financial information from team members.
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting procedures and established internal controls.
- Resolve all control infractions raised by the internal audit.
- Liaise with external auditors to ensure that audited accounts are ready before the end of the first quarter of every year.
- Check postings to project accounts and ensure entries are all project-related.
- Liaise with company external auditors for statutory annual or interim reviews.
- Maintain an efficient financial information system.
- Perform financial analysis, monthly variance analysis, highlight trends, and investigate underlying financial drivers.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes.
- Monitor financial KPIs and other useful indicators and escalate as necessary.
- Statutory (e.g., tax, pension, etc.) scheduling, preparation of required schedules, fillings, and documentation.
- Liaise with accountants of companies that fall under his portfolio to have a thorough understanding of financial operations.
- Review Overhead budget performance quarterly and escalate any overruns.
- Ensure operational Cost Bill of all active projects are received from QS prior to mobilization.
- Ensure accuracy of postings in ledger by team members: review postings and ensure all corrections/reversals are viewed and signed-off by ED.
Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant discipline. A Master’s degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage.- Minimum of 7 years work experience in an accounting/financial audit role. Experience in a construction industry is a major advantage.
- Membership of a recognized professional accounting body - ACCA or ICAN.
- General ledger accounting knowledge and experience with accounting systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical skills (MS Excel/SPSS, or Power BI).
- High attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills, combined with good business judgment.
- Ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Ability to train and manage staff.
