Our client is looking for a Construction Site HSE Lead to join their team in Regina, SK for a contract opportunity until the end of 2025. This person will oversee on-site safety management, promote a culture of safety, and ensure adherence to Canadian regulatory and organizational standards throughout the construction phase. Key Responsibilities HSE Leadership and Strategy
- Develop and implement HSE plans, policies, and procedures in alignment with Canadian regulations.
- Provide guidance to site personnel on HSE requirements, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial standards.
- Act as the primary HSE point of contact on-site, representing the company in audits and inspections.
- Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate and report incidents, near-misses, and non-compliance, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to Canadian safety protocols.
- Deliver HSE training and toolbox talks to workers, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement in safety through education and engagement.
- Facilitate emergency preparedness drills and ensure readiness for incidents.
- Oversee compliance with Canadian environmental regulations, including emissions control, waste management, and spill prevention.
- Collaborate with the project team to minimize the environmental impact of construction activities.
- Ensure adherence to project-specific environmental goals, including sustainability and net-zero objectives.
- Maintain accurate HSE records, including inspections, permits, incident reports, and training logs.
- Prepare and submit regular HSE performance reports to the project management team.
- Ensure all HSE documentation complies with Canadian standards and is accessible to relevant stakeholders.
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in safety management systems (e.G., CRSP, CHSC, NCSO, or equivalent).
- 7+ years of HSE experience in construction, energy, or heavy industrial projects in Canada.
- Previous experience in CO2 sequestration, CCUS , or similar environmental projects is highly preferred.
- Proven track record of leading HSE teams and managing safety programs on large-scale Canadian sites.
- Strong understanding of Canadian HSE regulations, standards, and best practices (e.G., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
- Familiarity with construction site operations, hazard identification, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Knowledge of CO2 handling, storage, and transport safety protocols is an asset.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence a culture of safety.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and contractors.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Authorization to work in Canada.
