Here at GXO, we’re currently looking for a General Manager to lead our M&S ambient food warehouse operation in Milton Keynes. You’ll lead a strong, growing team and be responsible for ultimately ensuring the operational and commercial success of a complex operation. This is a full time, permanent role. Even though you'll be contracted to Monday - Friday, this is a 24/7 operation, therefore you’ll need to offer a level of flexibility in terms of working hours – no two weeks are the same, this is logistics after all! Pay, benefits and more: You’ll be paid a salary of £80,000 - £90,000 per annum , depending upon experience. You’ll also receive 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days so you can enjoy a positive work-life balance. There’s also our continued focus on internal promotions, over 55% last year! What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Be responsible for the overall operational and financial performance of the operation, leading from the front and getting under the skin of what keeps the site moving on a day-to-day basis
- Play a key part in driving communication and engagement with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, both onsite and throughout the wider GXO network
- Demonstrate the ability to identify and drive opportunities for operational excellence and continuous improvement
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring the long-term success of the contract
- A proven track record effectively leading a fast moving ambient foods logistics operation with strong experience of continuous improvement – you’ll be the type that never wants to stand still and aims for excellence
- Fantastic leadership skills with a real focus on developing and engaging your people and driving succession from the bottom up
- The ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and with the customer
- A high level of resilience with the ability to lead a winning team to success
