Job Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic individual to join our team as a Chief Accountant - GL. This role is fundamental in overseeing and managing the general ledger functions, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and integrity across all accounting operations.

Primary Responsibilities in General Ledger Accounting

Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate financial statements and reports, ensuring they reflect the company's financial position and adhere to established accounting principles.
GL Account Reconciliation: Oversee monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
Internal Controls: Develop and implement robust internal control procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Budget Management: Collaborate with department heads to manage budget schedules, ensuring alignment with the company’s financial objectives.
Audit Coordination: Lead the preparation and coordination of internal and external audits, addressing any findings with appropriate corrective actions.

Essential Skills and Competencies for a Chief Accountant - GL

Accounting Expertise: Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and general ledger functions.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in managing complex financial data.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor a team, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in general ledger accounting or a similar role within a mid-to-large size organization.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is highly preferred.
Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
Experience in leading financial audits and implementing efficient internal controls.
