The Opportunity The Power Engineering Building Supervisor plays a critical role in the operation, maintenance, and management of Siksika Nation's commercial building. This position ensures optimal functionality of building systems, provides a safe and welcoming environment for tenants and visitors, manages budgets, and champions sustainable practices. Reporting to the Siksika Nation Executive Director of Engineering (Interim Facilities Manager), the Power Engineering Building Supervisor directly contributes to the Nation's vision of operational excellence and sustainability. Key Responsibilities Building Operations and Maintenance ● Manage the operation and maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and security. ● Conduct routine inspections to ensure systems are in excellent working condition. ● Address maintenance requests from tenants and stakeholders promptly. ● Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans to minimize system downtime. Tenant Relations ● Serve as the primary contact for tenants, addressing concerns, lease agreements, and service requests. ● Ensure tenant satisfaction through effective communication and issue resolution. ● Oversee tenant onboarding and offboarding processes. Financial Management ● Develop and manage the annual operating budget, forecasting expenses and revenue. ● Oversee procurement and vendor contracts for cost-effective, high-quality services. ● Provide regular financial reports to Siksika Nation leadership. Regulatory Compliance and Safety ● Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. ● Develop and enforce building policies, procedures, and emergency response plans. ● Monitor building security and implement safety measures for tenants and visitors. Sustainability and Energy Management ● Implement sustainability practices to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact. ● Monitor energy usage and recommend efficiency upgrades. ● Manage the Building Management System (BMS) for optimal performance of automated controls. Project Management ● Plan and oversee building renovations, upgrades, or new construction projects. ● Coordinate with contractors, architects, and consultants to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Leadership and Collaboration ● Supervise on-site staff and contractors, such as janitors, maintenance teams, and security personnel. ● Collaborate with Siksika Nation leadership to align building operations with community goals. ● Act as a liaison with local authorities, community members, and stakeholders. Qualifications Education ● Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, or electrical), facilities management, or a related field. ● Certification in building systems (e.G., HVAC, electrical systems) or facilities management is an asset. Experience ● Minimum 10 years of experience in building management, engineering, or facilities operations. ● Experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations is highly desirable. Skills and Competencies ● Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.). ● Exceptional project management and organizational skills. ● Proficiency in budgeting, financial management, and procurement. ● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for tenant and stakeholder engagement. ● Familiarity with energy management systems and sustainability practices. ● Comprehensive knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards. Other Requirements ● Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. ● Flexibility to work non-standard hours during emergencies or project deadlines. ● Willingness to participate in community events and cultural initiatives. - $80,000.00 to $90,000.00 depending on experience
