As the Director, Research and Data, you will play a pivotal role in identifying market trends, uncovering opportunities, and addressing challenges in the pension industry. Your insights will drive innovation, support strategic objectives, and ensure the CAAT Pension Plan remains at the forefront of workplace retirement solutions. We are looking for someone with:

  • A post-secondary education in relevant field or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • A proven track record in research, data management, and strategic planning within financial services, insurance or similar field, preferably in pensions.
  • Strong analytical skills, proficiency with data analysis tools, advanced knowledge of Excel, and the ability to automate data processes for improved efficiency.
  • An in-depth understanding of pension-related regulations and compliance standards.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience with the ability to build, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex findings clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strategic thinking abilities to anticipate industry shifts and proactively adapt strategies.

Once here you will:
  • Identify industry trends, competitor strategies, and regulatory changes across employer segments and targeted industries.
  • Evaluate market needs to uncover gaps in workplace retirement offerings and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Produce comprehensive reports and actionable insights for senior leadership to guide strategic decision-making.
  • Work with growth enablement teams to identify and collect data that enhances prospect engagement and business opportunities.
  • Manage data to support the creation of content aligned with strategic themes and solutions.
  • Oversee CRM data management, prospect tracking, and performance insights to optimize growth strategies.
  • Prepare data for presentations to the CAAT Board of Governors and Sponsors Committee to ensure governance reporting is timely and effective.
  • Support the creation of data-driven business development strategies that align with market needs and opportunities.
  • Identifying new business opportunities, including partnerships, products, and service offerings.
  • Collaborate with growth and enablement teams to develop strategies tailored to prospective employer needs.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (marketing, compliance, produce development) to implement research-driven initiatives.
  • Present research findings to executive leadership and stakeholders, influencing key business decisions.
  • Contribute to thought leadership by providing data and insights aligned with growth strategy.
  • Stay ahead of legislative changes affecting pension plans and retirement benefits.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks through proactive analysis and recommendations.
  • Build and lead a team of talented data analysts and researchers.
  • Mentor team members to deliver high-quality, impactful research and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Conduct studies on participant behaviour and preferences to enhance client engagement.
  • Support the development of customized solutions tailored to specific client demographics.
