The Opportunity Reporting into the Manager, Underwriting you will be focused on managing risk assessment and profitability of the Book of Business. You will work closely with all teams within the Company to confirm insurer appetite and underwriting standards are always followed. You are an expert communicator, can go with the flow, have high standards and can exercise good judgement. The job will be working out of our Welland, ON office. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for underwriting tasks to achieve targeted goals within brokerage portfolio Review risk submissions within assigned authority limits – primarily, but not exclusively, through file and call audits. Evaluate, accept, reject or modify risks within established underwriting guidelines Secure additional information and review endorsements where necessary and analyze all pertinent data to determine acceptability of risks according to established underwriting standards Assist in preparing submissions for higher underwriting review Coordinate with the Sales team to ensure valid and timely response on quotations and production of policies, endorsements, renewal notices, and other requirements as necessary Maintain close rapport and relationship with colleagues and multiple channels – Sales, Service, Training, Insurers – to obtain necessary underwriting information, promote satisfactory service relationship, enhance efficiency and to encourage the submission of targeted business Coach brokers for success and improvement to enhance underwriting capabilities, provide market and underwriting insight Education Completion of a college diploma, undergraduate degree or higher Progression towards or completion of CIP designation preferred Required Qualifications Demonstrated P&C underwriting ability and technical competence as evidenced by 3+ years professional experience Process driven with a very high level of productivity Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills, a strong approach to problem solving, with an aim to grow and enhance profitability of brokerage portfolio Ability to work with several different technology platforms Proficient win Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Excel and Word Evaluating audit results and providing recommended actions to provide meaningful feedback delivered in a constructive manner, showing patience and a willingness to foster improvement Polished communication skills, both written and interpersonal High understanding and working knowledge of the Ontario and overall Canadian P&C market Life @ RATESDOTCA Group Ltd.
