We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will create functional products and enhance our current products. Responsibilities:
- Work with the product design team to prototype, develop, and engineer furniture for the for the commercial, healthcare and higher education markets
- Involvement in the entire life cycle of our products from early concepts to the finished product
- Solve engineering and design challenges to optimize for manufacturability and end-user function
- Create SolidWorks parts, assemblies, and drawings ready for manufacturing release
- Provide clear and organized communication to suppliers to help facilitate prototypes and convey product design intent
- Work with other engineering or production disciplines to ensure proper implementation of new product
- Find suppliers and component sources for new parts
- Define quality standards in collaboration with our suppliers and work to maintain outstanding product quality
- Maintain product specifications and be an expert advisor to our customers and customer service team
- Re-engineer improvements to existing products
- Validate concepts for suitability and standards compliance
- Produce project records and maintain schedule of activities.
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience designing healthcare or seating furniture.
- Experience with wood, foam and metal furniture design.
- Knowledge of plastic moulding, different metals & manufacturing processes.
- Woodworking design and manufacturing experience an asset.
- Minimum of 10 years experience with Solidworks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
