Executive Manager and Chief Information & Digital Officer At e Safety, we are pioneers in online safety regulation, leading global efforts to combat digital harms and foster safer, more positive online experiences for all Australians. Our mission is bold and far-reaching. From tackling cyberbullying and child sexual exploitation to confronting emerging harms brought about by new innovations such as generative AI and immersive technologies, we oversee Australia’s online safety landscape. We work closely with Commonwealth departments, agencies, and a range of partners to create meaningful change. Our team collaborates with diverse communities, educators, law enforcement, and industry leaders to build safer digital environments and give Australians the skills and knowledge they need to navigate online spaces confidently. At e Safety, you’ll be part of a passionate team under the leadership of an independent Commissioner who is supported by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). Our e Safety staff are ACMA employees who are subject to the terms and conditions of employment in the ACMA's Enterprise Agreement 2024-2027. The key duties of the position include: This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and growing organisation tasked with the mission-critical remit of helping Australians have safer and more positive experiences online. Technology is a critical driver of e Safety’s regulatory operations, helping investigators remediate online harm through our complaint schemes, providing support to victims of image-based abuse, cyberbullying, adult cyber abuse, and illegal and restricted content such as child sexual abuse material and terrorist and violent extremist content. As the Executive Manager and Chief Information and Digital Officer , you will lead your teams through successful digital transformation initiatives, improving processes and engagement with the business and positioning the Branch as a trusted partner in the delivery of technology solutions. You will establish strong relationships with key stakeholders, always working to understand business needs and position your teams to deliver. You will mentor staff and support continuous improvement of processes and systems, ensuring e Safety stays primed to be a leading innovator in online safety regulation. Providing leadership and direction to multi-disciplinary technology, digital, and data teams including the management of people and performance. Building a positive and collaborative culture within the Branch, confidently leading by example and displaying appropriate professional and inclusive behavior in the workplace. Developing, implementing, and communicating an IT vision and strategic plan encompassing efficient and effective business systems and processes that harness best-available technology that supports e Safety’s goals and requirements. Contributing to agency objectives through leadership, participation, and membership within the executive leadership team. Identifying and exploiting opportunities to position e Safety as a digital, data, and technology-driven organisation leveraging innovation, insights, and digital workplace solutions. Effectively managing and implementing change as well as shaping, leading, and driving digital transformation to achieve measurable improvements. Managing financial resources including budgeting, forecasting, hardware and software lifecycle management, scenario planning, and program delivery. Ensuring the provision, security, and stability of ICT products and services. Ensuring appropriate ICT-related contractual and service arrangements are in place, consistent with government procurement requirements and protocols. Fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and effective relationships that ensure alignment between team members, stakeholders, and organisational priorities. Note: Due to the nature of e Safety’s regulatory scope, occupants in this role may be exposed to content or hear stories about other people’s experiences with online harm, or be involved in work on potentially distressing and sensitive topics. Staff have access to support through our Employee Assistance Program and other wellbeing initiatives and training. To be eligible for employment with e Safety, applicants must be Australian citizens. The successful applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a NV1 security clearance or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level. More information on the security clearance vetting process is available on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) website. Successful applicants are required to satisfy an employment screening process which may include demonstrating Australian citizenship, satisfactory completion of security and integrity checks, and successful completion of a medical assessment. Due to the nature of the role, it will only be offered on a full-time basis. Suitable candidates may be placed in a merit pool from this selection process and the pool may be used to fill similar ongoing or non-ongoing roles.
