Job Summary The Quality Control & Chemical Technologist is responsible for monitoring, cleaning and maintain proper handling of pre-treatment, reverse osmosis and wastewater management systems resulting in consistent and effective preparation of materials to be powder coated, clean water returned to the city, and waste sludge handled for proper disposal while also ensuring that the day-to-day functions as designated by the Production Manager are both adhered to and done efficiently and safely. You will be reporting to the Lead Quality and Chemical Technologist Duties & Responsibilities:
- Pre-Treatment
- Monitor proper wash temperature for the substrate.
- Monitor and adjust PH levels and chemical concentrations and TDS (total dissolved solids) of rinse tanks in powder coating processes.
- Clean powder coating operations tanks Reverse Osmosis
- Maintain Water Holding Tank
- Monitor and adjust water softener levels * Wastewater Treatment
- Empty and clean water filters, removal of sludge into drums
- Monitor and adjust zinc and phosphate levels/concentrations in tanks.
- Manage inventory of chemicals.
- Inspect raw materials and test samples of steel & aluminum products powder coated.
- Receive materials for quality inspection
- Communication to quality concerns and discrepancies
- Conduct QC testing
- Identify process and quality problems, determine systematic root cause, and recommend corrective action
- Maintain and provide records for all tests performed
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry
- Minimum 1+ year with chemical technician background
- Industry experiences 3 years
- Proven experience with processes and procedures involved in developing and maintaining relationships with clients & vendors.
- Strong ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate data with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational skills: ability to work under pressure, prioritize and manage time efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
- High computer proficiency.
