Job Title: Data Modeler with Azure Expertise Note - Please Apply after going through the JD. Job Summary : We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Modeler with Azure expertise to design, implement, and maintain robust data models that support our business needs. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in data modeling principles, Azure cloud technologies, and relational and non-relational database systems. You will work closely with stakeholders, data architects, and developers to ensure efficient, scalable, and secure data models that drive business insights. Key Responsibilities:
- Data Modeling :
- Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models based on business requirements.
- Create and maintain Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) and ensure data model consistency across systems.
- Implement Star and Snowflake schemas for data warehousing and analytics.
- Azure Expertise :
- Utilize Azure services like Azure SQL Database , Azure Synapse Analytics , Azure Data Lake , and Cosmos DB for data modeling and storage.
- Integrate data models with Azure Data Factory and other ETL/ELT tools for seamless data movement and processing.
- Apply Azure Data Catalog and Azure Purview to manage metadata and ensure data governance.
- Collaboration :
- Partner with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and understand data requirements.
- Work closely with data architects to ensure models align with enterprise data strategies.
- Collaborate with data engineers to implement models into ETL pipelines and databases.
- Optimization and Standards :
- Define and enforce data modeling standards , including naming conventions and normalization/denormalization practices.
- Optimize database performance through model refinement and indexing strategies.
- Conduct regular model reviews to ensure alignment with business and technical needs.
- Documentation and Governance :
- Maintain comprehensive data dictionaries , glossaries, and model documentation.
- Ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and governance policies .
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data modeling, database design, and development.
- Expertise in data modeling tools like ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, or similar.
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure services such as:
- Azure SQL Database , Azure Synapse Analytics , Azure Data Lake , Cosmos DB .
- Azure Data Factory for ETL workflows.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with T-SQL/PL-SQL .
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and big data technologies .
- Experience with metadata management tools (e.g., Azure Data Catalog, Purview).
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra.
- Certifications in Azure, such as:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900) .
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) .
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) .
- Understanding of data governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK, GDPR, etc.).
- Experience with tools like Power BI for data visualization.
