MARINE TECHNICAL UNDERWRITER

Location: Johannesburg

Description:

The candidate must be experienced in the processing and production of all insurance documentation and well-versed in all Marine classes including Cargo, Goods In Transit, Stock Throughput, Hull & Machinery, Leisurecraft, Marine Liabilities, and Facultative Placements. The role includes underwriting risks and performing tasks with limited supervision on moderate to complex technical placements in a fast-paced environment. Ability to follow through with underwriting policies and procedures, rating rules, and adherence to insurance laws and regulations.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:

1. At least 3-5 years Marine Experience
2. Ability to work independently
3. Time Management
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, takes initiative and pays attention to detail
5. Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound underwriting decisions
6. Existing Market Relationships and a great communicator who can work with people at all levels
7. Sales experience, following up on leads and well-versed in the New Business process
