Job Summary Shariah risk management (SRM) is a function that systematically identifies, measures, monitors, and reports Shariah non-compliance (SNC) risks in BPMB Group’s operations, business, affairs, and activities. Job Description Key Responsibilities Policy and Framework Development:
- Facilitate the implementation of Operational Risk Management frameworks within the BPMB Group.
- Develop, review, and enhance Shariah Risk Management (SRM)-related guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure robust risk management practices.
- Gather, analyze, validate, and maintain Shariah Non-Compliance (SNC) data from Business and Support Functions, including Key Risk Indicators (KRI), Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), and SNC event reporting.
- Identify and assess SNC risks in new and enhanced products, processes, and systems, recommending appropriate controls and mitigations.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on the Group’s risk exposure, including mitigation measures, for Management and the Shariah Committee.
- Provide advisory support to Business and Support Functions on Shariah Risk Management matters.
- Ensure SRM implementation complies with all regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Coordinate and monitor the execution of mitigation measures and action plans approved by Management.
- Develop awareness programs to educate staff on SRM, operational risk tools, and methodologies.
- Conduct training sessions to promote a strong risk culture and enhance Shariah knowledge within the organization.
- Regularly review and improve existing operating procedures, internal controls, and SRM initiatives.
- Provide feedback and recommendations on product proposals, process enhancements, and system implementations from a Shariah Risk perspective.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Islamic Finance, Islamic Banking, Shariah Law, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in banking operations and risk management.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Excellent verbal and written proficiency in English and Bahasa Melayu.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Proficiency in developing and delivering impactful presentations.
- Knowledge of Islamic banking practices and regulations.
- Commitment to attending relevant training programs and certifications to strengthen SRM expertise.
