Job PurposeRoles in this level are responsible for design development and services related to the rotating equipment, related packages and auxiliary systems to be integrated into existing industrial process plants in an efficient and systematic manner according to QAFCO procedures and specifications and the Company's goals and objectives. As part of project works, they are responsible for analyzing problems, carrying out root cause analysis & engineering calculations to arrive at the optimum techno-economic solution, preparing tenders, carrying out technical evaluations, generating the deliverables of the required quality and supporting the execution of the Project. They compile and provide input to periodic reports within their area of work and assist their superiors in cost control.The role holder must ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance with QAFCO's Health, Safety and Environment procedures.Key AccountabilitiesPlan work activities, lead and support various project teams, and liaise with all stakeholders to ensure execution of assigned project activities to meet set objectives and overcome challenges.Carry out root cause analysis, complete the process data sheets with mechanical details to fully detail the equipment specification, and perform engineering calculations using software as per codes and standards.Prepare datasheets, specifications, and requests for quotation.Review and evaluate supplier proposals and prepare bid tabulations.Select, size, and determine costs to meet process design and mechanical performance requirements.Develop and maintain/update specifications/standards on engineering practice within the trades, including incorporation of lessons learned.Have in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with the overhauling of steam turbines, compressors, gas turbines, pumps, etc.Assist with P&ID, 3-D piping model, and HAZOP reviews.Conduct design reviews and fabrication inspections, witness, and evaluate performance tests.Keep informed of technological developments in the area of responsibility to update knowledge, identify, and recommend opportunities for increased effectiveness and/or cost reduction.Provide technical support to multiple projects and operations, as required, meeting the required quality of work & schedule.Support in training new and/or trainee engineers to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills to independently perform their tasks and exchange knowledge with colleague engineers.Desired Candidate ProfileBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.In-depth technical knowledge of engineering codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI, IEC, BS, EN, etc.) and their application.A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience as a Rotating/Package Mechanical Engineer, preferably in projects related to petrochemical and/or ammonia/urea manufacturing plants.Proficiency in the development of datasheets, engineering documents reviews, procurement, and installation of rotating equipment like pumps, compressors, steam turbines, gas turbines, and packaged equipment.Demonstrated experience in an active role as project engineer for mechanical package design and supply is considered an additional value.
