Our busy Flight Catering unit at Cairns Airport has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Full Time Production Leading Hand to join our team. In a nutshell, your main responsibilities are:
- Lead by example and competently perform all duties of a Senior Catering Attendant.
- Supervise, train, and induct team members within designated work areas in all internal and external policies and procedures.
- Supervise team members in an area that involves the use of wash machines.
- Skilled use of production machinery for batch cooking.
- Thoroughly understand and implement quality control techniques and ensure customer specifications are met.
- Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organised and productivity and performance criteria are met.
- Identify opportunities to improve performance and productivity across operations.
- Investigate discrepancies in stock take.
- Ensure team members receive/adhere to breaks and rosters.
- Demonstrate strong organisational and time management skills.
- Implement directions given by management.
- Ensure that all documentation is completed as per specification and customer requirements.
- Perform administrative and reporting duties as required.
- Ensure adherence to Galley Loading Plan (GPL), Cart Packing Plan (CPP), and Equipment Loading Plan (ELP) as applicable to the role.
- Adhere to the Company’s policy in relation to HALAL, HACCP, QSAI/Food Safety, Workplace Health and Safety, Quarantine, and Customs as applicable to the role.
- Work in other areas to support the business demands of the Unit as directed.
- Flexible availability to work various shifts across a 7-day week, on a full-time basis.
- Experience working in a commercial manufacturing or food environment.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Access to own reliable transport.
- Sound numerical skills.
- Strong knowledge of WHS & Food Handling & Hygiene.
- HACCP experience.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy open plan kitchen.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
