Technical Support Specialist

Provide technical support for end users with regards to computer hardware and operating systems, applications, and connectivity. Manage tickets in service desk system and user support, respond to user queries, and log tickets in the service desk system. Assist with setting up hardware, software, and related peripherals, as well as changes and modifications to operating systems and applications. Maintain a knowledge database for a variety of information, procedures, and solutions. Educate and assist users in the usage of client applications and operating systems. Network / IT / Security system administration and provide Windows and MS server support and administration. Provide security system administration and maintain IT and security systems. Perform equipment preventive maintenance, system administration, and backups. Prepare cost analysis and advise management on equipment and software needs, assisting in purchasing procedures. Participate in local and regional IT projects and manage vendors and suppliers. Ensure systems and network facilities are in compliance with company policies. Educate users regarding security guidelines and business practices. Implement and maintain global, regional, and local policies as available. Ensure all work procedures are well documented and maintained up to date. Develop and maintain issue logs with external parties to track all unresolved issues. Issue computer hardware and software to the user base based on company procedures and policies. Assist in maintaining an inventory system, including the current location of active and inactive equipment and software. Requirements: Diploma in IT, Engineering, or any equivalent discipline. Minimum 3 years of experience in user application support or helpdesk. Proven knowledge of client applications, such as MS Windows, MS Office, SAP, etc. Proven knowledge of MS operating systems (Windows XP, Windows 7, and later). Knowledge of Linux and MS Access database platforms would be advantageous. Sound knowledge of network technology, such as LAN/WAN protocols, routers, switches, firewalls, etc. Familiarity with network applications such as MS SQL Server, MS Exchange, etc. Preferably MCP certified in Win XP/7/8/10, MCSE Win Server 2012. Have a detailed understanding of service desk operations and procedures. Able to be on standby after office hours for equipment monitoring.
