Te Tari Pūhanga Pūmanawa Rorohiko | Computer Science and Software Engineering department Te Kaupeka Pūhanga | Faculty of Engineering

  • Full-time 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
  • Continuing (permanent) position
What You Will Do | Āu Mahi We invite applications for a continuing Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position in Software Engineering (equivalent to an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the US academic System) to join our diverse and dynamic department. You will develop a strong, externally funded research programme that complements the Department's present research activities but is not limited to existing topics. You will be encouraged to contribute and extend the department's broad collaboration network with researchers and industry internationally and locally. You will teach into the growing Software Engineering undergraduate programme, which is accredited by Engineering New Zealand to the internationally recognised Washington Accord. You will also instruct at the postgraduate level and supervise research students. Academic staff are also expected to participate in Departmental and University activities and administration and collaborate with other academics in the Department's teaching and research activities. Who You Are | Mōu You will be expected to hold (or obtain) a Ph.D. degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science (or a closely aligned discipline) and possess strong research skills, evidenced by your ability to produce and publish scholarly work in Software Engineering (or a closely aligned discipline). The successful candidate will commit to excellence in teaching core courses in Software Engineering at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The appointee will demonstrate interest in supervising final-year undergraduate projects, Masters, and Ph.D. students (according to opportunity), ability to collaborate with others in the University, and an interest in contributing to Departmental, College, and University activities. We encourage applications from candidates with a background in any area of Software Engineering research and teaching. This includes technical topics, such as software maintenance and evolution, software performance and reliability engineering, and software testing. It also includes non-technical topics, such as human factors in software engineering and agile experience with software development practices in group project courses (including coaching of teams). This role is covered by the Academic Staff, Associated Staff, and Academic Support Staff Collective Agreement, and the following salary scale applies: Lecturer $89,645 - $108,144 p.a., Senior Lecturer $113,826 - $142,591 p.a.
