Part-Time Producer Who we're looking for: We're looking for a part-time casual news producer with a can-do attitude! Someone can put a news show to air, who loves to chase news, and thrives under pressure and deadlines. A strong communicator and storyteller who embraces innovation and new technology. Various producing responsibilities will form a regular part of the work, including lining-up newscasts, vetting news content and coordinating with CityNews teams across the country. The position will require weekend and evening shifts. What you will do:
- Find, chase, research news content for multiple markets
- Write content and vet stories
- Line up news shows and take them to air
- Assign news stories when needed
- Collaborate with supervising producers for show needs/requirements
- Locate visuals/materials needed to tell story
- Support and communicate with field teams (VJs, ENG)
- Contribute to /help generate story ideas and pitches
- Complete, vet all production elements needed for air (fonts, graphics, outcues etc.)
- An insatiable curiosity. We want producers who are always asking why and pushing our stories into territories that our competition is not exploring, while also offering context that our audience is seeking.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required
- Patience and a willingness to explore new ways of producing news
- A passion for local live and breaking news, strong editorial judgement, and an interest in growing professionally in a fast-paced, fun newsroom
