Leadership:

Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organisation.

Acts as an effective role model by demonstrating high levels of clinical competence.

Oversees the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing practice within the specialty.

Advocates on behalf of patient/family/colleagues as appropriate and in a culturally safe manner.

Participates in nursing and education planning processes at a strategic and service level.

Leads and manages change processes within the team.

Effectively delegates activities taking into consideration individual knowledge and skill levels.

Leads the standards of practice, protocols and policies for the service.

Effectively leads and manages the competency assessment process to ensure legislative, professional and organisational requirements are met.

Leads the staff in the achievement of their goals for the unit, service and division.

Participates on committees and task forces as assigned. Oversees and assures that committee's recommendations are implemented at the Nursing level.

Monitors patient volumes, quality of care, and performance of staff to identify areas for improvement.

Maintains a departmental dashboard that includes information and progress on each performance indicator.

Responsible for the ongoing quality/performance improvement processes related to patient care.

Oversees control of positions and the recruitment and retention of qualified staff.

Participates to develop a staffing plan that maintains adequate staffing levels in all nursing units.

Evaluates Deputy Nurse Manager performance. Mentors, coaches, counsels and disciplines staff as needed.

Leads a shared decision-making model by establishing a structure of shared governance, just culture and staff engagement in departmental meetings and initiatives.

Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information.

Handles patient complaints and incidents involving nursing staff.

Investigates all incidents received from QIPS and maintains the record for improvement through corrective and preventive actions.

Actively participates in budgeting processes.

Clinical Practice:

Promotes innovative and creative clinical nursing practice and ensures it is validated with best practice and research activities.

Role models clinical practice excellence including activities of continuous quality improvement, audit and data collection.

Assesses and effectively delegates activities taking into consideration individual's knowledge and skill level and monitors/audits progress.

Works collaboratively with all members of the health care team to ensure staff receives high-quality educational input and support.

Promotes a patient and family-focused approach.

Promotes cost-effective nursing practice.

Contributes to the development of standards of practice, protocols and policies for the service.

Demonstrates an ability to access and use available Health Management information systems.

Works collaboratively with Clinical Services, Medical directorate, Quality and monitoring directorate, Infection Control, to maintain organizational standards.

Reviews and implements systems to ensure that processes to establish monitor and review the service-specific standards of practice and indicators of clinical practice for nursing are established and maintained.

Professional Development:

Identifies a professional development plan for each management staff and works with them to achieve their objectives and goals.

Identifies deficits in clinical and professional competencies of individuals and services and takes appropriate action.

Works with the Nursing Education Services for education planning for staff.

Provides direct and/or indirect clinical support for New Graduate Registered Nurses and student nurses.

Ensures employees' complete awareness of the vision, mission, and goals of the facility.

Participates in the planning, coordination and presentation of specific training and educational programs as appropriate to Quality Improvement needs of the facility or service.

Participates in conferences, workshops, symposiums and lectures related to Nursing administration and clinical practices.

Initiates emergency, safety practices and fire safety measures as appropriate.

Serves as a professional role model and preceptor for new leadership, staff and students.

Establishes and implements a system that supports best practice patient care decisions, safe and efficient patient throughput and access to resources for the unit/clinical service area.

Incorporates the values of research and evidence-based practice and its application to the environment of care.

Contributes to the profession of nursing through leadership and participation in professional organisations.

Maintains and updates own knowledge base related to clinical and/or educational specialty.

Attends educational opportunities and conferences relevant to the role and scope of practice and uses this knowledge to improve practice.

Maintains currency with own competency and/or credentialing assessment processes.

Resource Management:

Develops ward workforce plan outlining new graduates, RN, interns and students.

Ensures that patient allocation and model of care is based on appropriate skill mix and level of practice.

Promotes an Inter-disciplinary approach to the care.

Provides support and teaching to DM, HN, AHN, etc. to develop their supervision and delegation skills.

Leads the recruitment and selection process for the ward/campus.

Identifies and implements a succession plan for the Nurse Manager role.

Works to identify current and future staffing resource requirements and develops strategies to address these.

Participates in budget planning process.

Ensures sound processes are in place for stock control.

Accountable for ward/campus nursing budget.

Qualification:

BScN / MScN

Post basic leadership & management course is desirable.

Work Experience:

Must have minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in an administrative and quality improvement role.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Rs 80,000.00 - Rs 90,000.00 per month
